The usefulness of the KBeDesign™ suite comes from its integration with existing tools. This reduces training necessary to productively use the tools, and takes advantage of existing expertise. Important technologies underlying the integration aspects of KBeDesign™ are XML, the .NET framework and the server-client architecture.

XML

XML (extensible markup language) is well known and widely used. In KBeDesign™, XML with schemes and transformations is the basis for application-independent exchange of data between the various engineering software and a common product model.

.NET

Microsofts .NET framework eases development and reduces vulnerability of the KBeDesign™ Model Converter, where the actual transformations between XML and the formats needed by supported engineering tools are performed.

Server-client architecture

A server-client architecture and custom PDMS extensions allow requests for tailored subparts from PDMS to our KBE server.
